1) Mails Disappear From Server
This is one of the most common problems that occur mostly when your mobile device has just been configured to accept mail.
This issues occurs if or when an email account is being shared by multiple persons.
The real reason behind the disappearance of the mail is that after a new mobile phone or tablet is configured with an email account, the mails from the mail server are automatically downloaded onto that device.
Which after they are downloaded to the device automatically, they might disappear from the webmail of the account or simply cannot be downloaded onto a desktop client which has that account configured.
Mostly this issue happens when your mobile device is configured to "Remove mails from the server once they are downloaded".
You simply need to re-configure this option not to delete mails from server after they are downloaded. By doing this, other devices and mail clients can also download them.

2) Incorrect Login Details
Another common issue is providing a wrong login details to access your mail account.
Though password issues are easily identifiable and many people don't realize that their username is also as important their passwords, because any Wrong spellings, adding extra characters, leaving trailing spaces and forgetting to put @domainname.com at the end of the username are all most common problems which you may face when configuring or using an email account on your mobile device.

3) Incorrect Port Numbers
Another known mail configuration issue is entering the correct port number which your email server uses to allow mail access from remote devices.
Though there are different types of port numbers which different mail providers use, but most commonly, port 110 is used for incoming mail through POP3 and port 143 is used to receive mail through IMAP.
Port Number 25 is used to send outgoing mail i.e. through SMTP.
If you select a certain security protocol for your server, you also need to change the port number to a secure ports.
This is mostly where the confusion occurs. Its always advisable and safe to consult your email service provider for the correct settings and recommendations.

4) SSL / TLS / START TLS Issues
Another common problem when configuring email on your mobile devices is determining what security protocol to use.
Normally all mail server are suppose to provide support for that system so your device and their server can both create a secure connection for transferring your mail.
START TLS is a modern protocol which is not commonly used by all mail servers, but some smartphones offer the option to "accept all certificates" which you are required to select or enable from your smartphone mail setup to ensure that the configuration process goes through smoothly.
Else, you may need to manually accept the certificates when a warning pops up on your screen which might be quite disturbing and irritating.

5) New Mail Does Not Show Up Immediately
Firstly I want you to know that this issue is not related to the mail server but many users complain that their mails are not being shown instantly and immediately or that they are not being notified of the arrival of a new email when it comes into their webmail.
This headache most definitely is due to the fact that account syncing is not enabled on your mobile device or maybe the synchronization time for your smartphone has been set to a high time value.
So technically that means that if your device is set to sync every 30 minutes, you will not be notified of a mail which was received before the period of 30 minutes.
But the solution to this nightmare is Lowering this sync value to a lower time and this new changes will cause the phone to constantly check with the server for any new or latest mails.
Please note that this option may be costly on battery life and mobile data usage.
